Affirmations for Kids Going Back to School

Back-to-school season is quickly approaching, and one of the things that is very important to me is making sure my children are mentally and physically ready.

It's important for them to feel confident and positive about the new school year. Positive affirmations can help kids boost their self-esteem, overcome anxiety, and develop a growth mindset. Here are some affirmations that kids can repeat to themselves to help them have a successful school year:

  • I am excited to learn new things.

  • I am capable of achieving anything I set my mind to.

  • I am confident in my abilities.

  • I am surrounded by supportive teachers and classmates.

  • I can overcome any challenges that come my way.

  • I am a valuable member of my classroom community.

  • I am making progress and getting better every day.

  • I am proud of myself and all that I can accomplish.

  • I can handle anything that comes my way.

  • I am ready for a great school year!

  • I am great at ________ (insert subject or activity your child is great at)

  • I will show up with a positive attitude.

  • I respect myself and others.

Parenting Hack: Sneak a positive note or affirmation into your child’s backpack for the first day of school.

Encourage your child to repeat these affirmations to themselves regularly, especially during times of stress or anxiety. Positive affirmations can help kids build resilience and develop a strong foundation for success. I challenge you to sit down and write out affirmations with your child. Make each one personal; for example, my daughters are very shy, so a good affirmation for them would be: My voice is powerful and deserves to be heard.

Cheers to a fantastic school year ahead!
